The Waikato Region...
Again this is too recognisable for it to be used without acknowledgement.
The Waikato region is about 90 minutes from Auckland, Tauranga and
Rotorua. From the Waikato area it is easy to travel to tourist attractions
in the Central North Island.
The visitor will immediately be struck by how green the countryside is. The
area takes its name from the mighty Waikato River which is the dominant
feature of the area. Surfers will be drawn to the beautiful beaches on the
west coast.
Hamilton, New Zealand's fourth largest city was built by the Waikato River
which flows through its centre. Parks and gardens are a feature of
Hamilton, and a modern museum and library has been built beside the river.
The glowworm caves at Waitomo, the famous tourist attraction which has
drawn thousands of visitors for many years is in the Waikato District. The
natural beauty of the area and the small towns each with their own
character all attract visitors.
